Attention Veterans! The Jacksonville VA Outpatient Clinic has a new Yoga Instructor. Ms. Jennifer Anghaie will be teaching Virtual Yoga Classes on Wednesday’s

YOGA improves strength, balance and flexibility. It may help with back pain relief, ease arthritis symptoms promote heart health, mood improvement & healthier sleep habits. Yoga can mean more energy and brighter moods. As much as we would like to have in-person classes, due to COVID restrictions currently in place, Ms. Anghaie will be providing virtual yoga instructions so you can participate from the comfort of your own home environment. Classes will be ongoing beginning Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 12:30pm until-1:30pm.

Never tried yoga? Beginners are highly encouraged to join!

Basic home supplies needed for group preparation:

  1. A yoga mat, may substitute a blanket or towel
  2. Water for hydration
  3. An extra towel

Additional props such as:

  1. One or two yoga blocks
  2. A strap
  3. A yoga blanket
  4. Bolster pillow

…may be used to allow a wider range of things we can do. It’s not a big deal if you do not have the items on the list. There is no need to go out purchasing any of these items. Most people don’t have a lot of yoga props laying around their house, but thanks to the pandemic, we’ve uncovered some household items that work well as alternatives:

  1. Yoga blocks = books, food storage containers (even better if there is something in them for weight), full kleenex
    boxes.
  2. Yoga strap = belt, tie for bathrobe, **resistance bands can be used but something without elasticity is better, if available**
  3. Yoga blanket = large towel
  4. Bolster pillow =pillow, rolled blanket/towel

Optionally, items like socks and sweatshirts can be nice to have nearby. People often get chilly during final relaxation and like to throw on a sweatshirt or socks!

If you desire the real deal props…Whole Health has a very limited supply of yoga kits available for committed Veterans who have actively engaged in at least four classes.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please contact Rochelle D. Shipman to sign up. A virtual invite will be sent each Wednesday morning on the day of group.
